Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita expressed Morocco’s condemnation on Wednesday of Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip, including the recent bombing of the headquarters of the Qatari Committee for Gaza Reconstruction in Palestine, which violates international law and humanitarian law.
“Of course, there is great concern about what is happening, especially the loss of civilian lives due to Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip, including the recent bombardment of the Qatari Committee for Gaza Reconstruction headquarters, which violates all aspects of international law and humanitarian law,” said Bourita in a joint press conference with his Hungarian counterpart, Péter Szijjártó.
Bourita expressed great concern over the loss of civilian lives due to these actions, emphasizing that the high number of civilian casualties is unacceptable, regardless of the responsible party, and highlighting Morocco’s strong condemnation of the ongoing killing of children and women in Gaza by Israeli forces.
Bourita mentioned that the Moroccan monarch has called for an urgent de-escalation and cessation of military attacks, leading to a permanent ceasefire to ensure the protection of civilians.
He also reaffirmed that the two-state solution is the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive fix with respect to the Palestinian issue, warning that without it, the region will remain in a perpetual and cyclic state of crisis marked by tension and violence.
The minister pointed out that the international community and influential countries must move beyond crisis management regarding the Palestinian issue, thereby rebuilding trust to initiate genuine negotiations capable of achieving a just, comprehensive, and permanent solution based on the two-state alternative and in accordance with international legitimacy.
Bourita stressed the importance of demonstrating steadfast responsibility in halting the Israeli stranglehold on the Palestinian people and prioritizing logic and wisdom by establishing a just and permanent peace in the region for the security and stability of all its peoples.
