The city of Marrakech promises to be the second favorite destination for Spaniards in 2024, according to a study by the Booking platform dedicated to the Spanish tourist market.
“The most sought-after city by Spaniards for the coming year is Bangkok, closely followed by Marrakech, which ranks second in the ranking,” said tourism information platform Nexotur.
The choice of Marrakech can be explained by the fact that 50% of Spaniards are considering destinations where the cost of living is lower than that in their home country.
Thailand and Morocco offer a wide variety of gastronomy, and 64% of Spaniards are interested in learning about the history of local dishes, while 71% are eager to try them, added Nexotur.
Marrakech has also outranked Edinburgh, London, Vienna, Copenhagen, Brussels, Budapest, Prague, and Istanbul.
This preference for Marrakech is also linked to another essential factor for Spaniards—sustainable travel–as 55% state that they are looking for environmentally amenable innovations, such as the use of renewable energy and ecologically friendly building materials.
