Moroccan authorities supervised the evacuation of 112 nationals and their Palestinian relatives through the Rafah border crossing from Gaza to the Egyptian Sinai on Monday, reported Spanish newspaper Atalayar, citing Spanish news agency (EFE).
According to an unnamed Moroccan diplomatic source, the evacuated Moroccans are only the “first ” of a larger group of 614 refugees who have sought assistance from the Moroccan Embassy in Ramallah on the West Bank.
They now face a 72-hour window to leave Egypt, either by returning to Morocco or by seeking refuge in other countries.
The Gaza Crossings and Borders Authority, controlled by Hamas since it took over control of Gaza in 2007, daily publishes a list — subject to approval of both Egypt and Israel — detailing evacuations involving individuals with dual nationality and foreigners from Spain, the US, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Poland, India, the Philippines, Russia, and Brazil.
According to an update from the Palestinian Health Ministry, as of yesterday the number of Palestinians killed in Israel’s war on Hamas since the Hamas attack on October 7 which killed 1,200 people, has reached 11,470, including 4,407 children, 3,155 women, and 686 elderly people, while the number of injured is nearing 30,000.
