Ahmed Herzenni, former head of the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH) and successor to Driss Benzekri, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 75, after battling a terminal illness.
Born in 1948 in Guercif, he served as the Secretary General of the Higher Council of Education in 2006. With a PhD in sociology and anthropology, and a diploma in advanced studies in sociology from the Faculty of Arts, he worked as a researcher and later as a research director at the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INRA).
Herzenni carried out several consulting missions at both national and international levels and was a member of various regional and international organizations, including the Maghreb Network of Experts in Social Sciences and the Maghreb Forum for Sociological Studies, among others. He was also a member of the Scientific Committee for the Report on 50 Years of Human Development in Morocco.
