A hail of Kalashnikov bullets targeted a vehicle at a McDonald’s parking lot in the 16th district of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône) Saturday night, resulting in two fatalities and three individuals sustaining gunshot wounds, two in critical condition, as reported by the French media.
According to information disclosed by Marseille Prosecutor Nicolas Bessone to French News Agency (AFP) on Sunday, a woman and a man, in their twenties, were killed in the attack. The victims were inside their car when another vehicle approached and fired at them.
In total, twenty-four Kalashnikov cartridges were found on-site.
Bessone affirmed that the three male victims have already a criminal record for drug trafficking and violence in the Toulon area.
The motive of this attack is still under investigation, with preliminary evidence pointing to a clash between drug-trafficking gangs.
