Omar Hilale, Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, conducted a four-day working visit to the Central African Republic along with a UN delegation, and met with the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) contingent operating under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission (MINUSCA).
Hilale was welcomed by Colonel Mounir Ou-Bakha, Commander of the Moroccan contingent in Bangassou, and was briefed about the mission’s accomplishments regarding the promotion of security, civilian protection, and the strengthening of state authority in a territory long afflicted by armed groups’ attacks.
The Moroccan officers and non-commissioned officers assured Hilale of their loyalty to King Mohammed VI and the mission entrusted to them.
The Moroccan representative to the UN praised the national contingent’s dedication and courage, and paid tribute to the nineteen blue helmets who fell while serving as MINUSCA members.
The Ambassador also met with local authorities and communities in Bangassou to discuss ways to reduce violence and empower people.
In Bangui, Hilale met with Minister and Head of Government Felix Moloua and other stakeholders to discuss positive developments, international assistance needs and forthcoming elections.
The visit mirrors Morocco’s commitment to peace in the Central African Republic peace, either through bilateral initiatives or MINUSCA peacekeeping operations.
