Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government, represented King Mohammed VI at the Saudi-African Economic Summit in Riyadh, which commenced on Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in the presence of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, as well as heads of numerous African states.
Morocco’s delegation impressed with high-ranking officials including Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Cooperation, Mustapha Mansouri, Morocco’s Ambassador to Riyadh, Mohamed Arrouchi, Morocco’s Ambassador-Permanent Representative to the African Union and others.
The purpose of the summit is to forge strategic economic and investment cooperation between Saudi Arabia and African countries to promote common interests, prosperity, and stability. It also strives to define areas of cooperation and build a shared vision for bilateral and international relations.
Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan announced that the Saudi Fund for Development intends to sign deals with African countries worth $533 million.
“We are working with partners to support Ghana and other countries regarding their debt,” he said.
Saudi Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih stated that the Public Investment Fund, his kingdom’s $700+ billion wealth fund, will make “game-changing” investments in the African continent.
