The Moroccan short stature football team has qualified for the quarterfinals of the World Cup, the first edition of which will take place on November 12 in Buenos Aires.
After commencing their participation in the competition on Tuesday with a 3-3 draw against Bolivia, the Moroccan team won a second group stage match against Colombia by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday.
In the third match on the same day, the national team defeated the United States by four goals to three.
At the end of the group stage, the national team gathered seven points and qualified for the quarterfinals of the first-of-its-kind, 2023 World Cup.
“This quarterfinal qualification is well-deserved,” said Oussama Al-Saghir, a player on the national team.
Al-Saghir emphasized that the qualification for the quarterfinals of a world competition organized for the first time in history would not have been possible without the efforts of the players and the technical staff, expressing gratitude to the officials of the Moroccan Football Federation who spared no effort to support the Moroccan team.
Al-Saghir stated that the national team’s success at the World Cup in Qatar, along with the support of Moroccan fans, serves as a great motivator for his team’s players to reach the final of this competition.
Morocco’s short-stature team won the Afro-Asian Football Cup, after beating Iraq (3-2).
The Moroccan short-stature football team was selected as the only African and Arab team to participate in the second edition of Copa America in 2021 in Lima, Peru.
