Agents from the Spanish Civil Guard stationed at the Tarifa port successfully seized a staggering 90 kilograms of cocaine on Saturday. The narcotics were meticulously concealed in hidden compartments in the car’s trunk and rear seats, as it was preparing to board a ferry bound for Tangier, Morocco, according to multiple Spanish news outlets.
The suspects in this international drug trafficking endeavor happen to be two Moroccan citizens with legal residency in Spain. Spanish authorities detained both the driver and passenger of the implicated vehicle.
Law enforcement first became suspicious upon observing the car’s severely sagging trunk, prompting a red flag for a meticulous inspection.
During the course of the search, agents uncovered the drugs, which were broken down into 90 parcels weighing roughly one kilo each. The packages seized contained an image of the notorious protagonist from the film “Scarface,” played by Al Pacino, which only served to enhance the case’s intrigue.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the origin of the drugs and to dismantle any drug trafficking networks operating in the area. As for the suspects, they have been arrested and are now facing charges related to public health offenses as they await their appearance before the judicial authorities.
