The Israeli Knesset (Parliament) passed the second and third readings of a bill that criminalizes support for Palestinian resistance on Monday, according to the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth (Ynet).
The Knesset’s Constitutional Committee approved the bill, which stipulates a one-year prison sentence for those who systematically read publications supporting Hamas and ISIS that happen to contain words of praise, sympathy, or encouragement for “terrorist” activities.
The committee clarified that reading such publications randomly or for legal purposes would not fall under such punishment.
During the discussions, the committee emphasized its stance that systematic and continuous reading indicates affiliation with “terrorist” organizations.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health revealed on Monday that the number of Palestinians killed and wounded as a result of the continuous onslaught on the Gaza Strip since October 7th has surpassed 10,000, with over 24,000 injured.
