Moroccan cyclist Nadim Laghmouchi clinched a victory on Sunday in the BMX African Championship held in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, securing a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
This achievement marks the first-ever Olympic qualification for a Moroccan cyclist in the BMX category, according to a press release from the Royal Moroccan Cycling Federation.
Nadim Laghmouchi, aged 28 and residing in London, outperformed South African riders Manqoba Madida and Brandon Pratt.
A total of 70 cyclists participated in the BMX African Championship 2023 on November 4-5, competing for continental titles in both men’s and women’s categories, including elites, under 23 (U23), and juniors.
Laghmouchi previously represented Morocco in BMX races at the World Cycling Championships, which took place from August 5-13 in Glasgow, Scotland.
