King Mohammed VI called for rehabilitating the Atlantic coastline, including the Sahara portion bordering the Atlantic, and turning it into a space for human interaction and economic integration.
The sovereign was addressing the Moroccan nation on Monday to Mark the 48th anniversary of the Green March.
The King underlined that the completion of mega-projects undertaken in the southern provinces would speed up this forthcoming project and provide it with the needed logistical platforms and fleet.
The Monarch explained that the development of the Atlantic coastline hinges on promoting offshore natural resources, marine fishing investment, seawater desalination, blue economy and renewable energy.
He regretted that the African Atlantic coast suffers from significant deficit in infrastructure and investment, despite being abound with skilled labor and natural resources, and promised to endeavor with African nations to fix that problem, giving the example of the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline which is part of the solution.
Within the same framework, the King said that Morocco has launched the institutional initiative of bringing together all twenty-three African countries bordering the Atlantic to promote security, stability and prosperity.
The King also called for enabling Sahel countries, with upgraded infrastructure and communication networks, to have access to the Atlantic Ocean. He also said that Morocco will put its road, port and rail infrastructure at the disposal of such African countries.
