Two victims, who were seriously injured due to the blast that hit the southern city of Es-Smara late Saturday, were released from the Hassan II military hospital of Laayoune on Thursday afternoon and returned to Es-smara.
Four explosions had rocked four neighborhoods in Es-Semara, killing one person and injured three others, two seriously. The blast was due to a projectile fall on a residential area, and many pro-polisario websites reported that the self-proclaimed “Sahrawi army of liberation” fired missiles at what it said were locations of the Moroccan armed forces.
The two wounded were a retired member of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and a police agent who was given a three-month leave due to his condition.
Moroccan ambassador to the UN Omar Hilale had stated that the “silence of the Polisario separatists regarding the explosions in Es-Smara city indicates their involvement,” and Morocco has “the right to respond to any terrorist attack.”
The public prosecutor at Laayoune Appeal Court had announced that a police probe was launched into the attack and that technical and ballistic expertise will be conducted to shed light on what happened.
