Israel does not have the right to self-defense because it is an occupier, stated the Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya, who spoke at the UN General Assembly special session on Palestine, reported Russian Agency TASS.
“I also cannot leave unmentioned the hypocrisy of the US and its allies, who in other, completely different situations call for compliance with humanitarian law […] seeing the horrifying destruction in Gaza […] All they can do is to (continue speaking) about Israel’s alleged right for self-defense,” stated the Russian diplomat.
Nebenzya further emphasized that Russia acknowledges Israel’s right to security, but that “It could be fully guaranteed only in the case of a fair resolution of the Palestinian problem based on recognized UN Security Council resolutions.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated previously that a two-state formula is the solution, which implies the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting in peace and security with Israel.
The United States rejected Brazil’s draft UN Security Council resolution in October, citing the absence of any reference to Israel’s right to self-defense, according to U.S. Representative Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
On Oct. 16, UNSC voted on a draft resolution proposed by Russia calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but The Western “troika” of the U.S., U.K., and France utilized their vetoes to abort the resolution.
China called for a ceasefire in the Gaza war for the purpose of “establishing an independent State of Palestine,” according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry statement.

Fewer than a handful of executive-level ministries across the entire globe have thus far garnered the courage to condemn Israel’s grossly disproportionate attacks targeting civilians and children, in particular.
Spain’s acting Minister of Social Rights, Ione Belarra tweeted that the EU must impose both an arms embargo and economic sanctions on Israel to stop this genocide, and urged action to bring Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before the International Criminal Court for war crimes.
