The Department of State hosted the U.S.-Morocco-Africa Working Group in Washington on Tuesday, a significant milestone aimed at strengthening ties and promoting collaboration between the two nations, said the U.S. Department of State in a press release.
Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General Ambassador Fouad Yazourh, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Jonathan Pratt, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Joshua Harris chaired the meeting.
Ambassador Yazourh led a delegation of officials from various Moroccan ministries, including foreign affairs, defense, interior, security, investments, and the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation.
The U.S. delegation included senior officials from the Department of Commerce, Department of Defense, International Development Finance Corporation, USAID, and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
During the meeting, officials engaged in fruitful discussions on a range of topics, primarily focusing on joint efforts to promote regional stability and security across the African continent. The participants also explored strategies to expand trade and economic ties between the U.S. and Morocco.
