Saudi Arabia won the race to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup after Australia withdrew its application just hours before the bid deadline on Tuesday.
With Australia out of the picture, Saudi Arabia became the sole confirmed bidder. The Gulf country had announced its proposal on Oct. 4, immediately following FIFA’s surprising exclusive invitation only to Asia and Oceania to submit bids for the 2034 World Cup.
Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the World Cup promises a unique experience, inspired by the nation’s transformation under Vision 2030 and its passion for football as well as its culture and history.
Morocco had wholeheartedly supported the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s desire to host the final stages of the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
Morocco is one of the co-hosts for the 2030 World Cup along with Spain and Portugal. Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina will each host an opening match to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the original World Cup.
