Transavia, the Dutch low-cost airline, inaugurated a new air route between Paris and the city of Errachidia on Sunday. The maiden flight of this new air connection touched down in Errachidia Moulay Ali Cherif Airport from Paris-Orly International Airport, carrying 136 passengers. Among them were members of the Moroccan community living in France and tourists eager to explore the charms of Southeastern Morocco.
The plane received a warm welcome from local officials, including Sadoq Abdedaim, President of the Provincial Tourism Council of Errachidia; Brahim Haterbouch, Director of Moulay Ali Cherif Airport; and several other local officials.
Notably, during the first nine months of 2023, Moulay Ali Cherif Airport welcomed around 47,000 passengers, marking a 33% increase compared to the same period in 2022 and a 25% rise compared to 2019.
Sadoq expressed his delight at the launch of this new air route, emphasizing recent concerted efforts to enhance Errachidia’s status as a tourist destination. He stated, “The opening of this new route meets the growing demand for Errachidia, a place teeming with significant tourism potential.”
Brahim Haterbouch, Director of Moulay Ali Cherif Airport, revealed that this new air route will connect Errachidia to the French capital with one flight per week. He also shared the impressive passenger statistics, highlighting the remarkable growth in the number of travelers choosing this route.
Passengers of Moroccan origin residing in France who were on the flight celebrated the launch of this much-anticipated new service, expressing joy at returning to their homeland with families. The new air connection aims to boost tourism and connectivity between Paris and Errachidia, a captivating city.
