The Producer Price Index (PPI) for the “Manufacturing Industries Excluding Petroleum Refining” sector increased by 0.1% in September 2023, compared to August 2023. This increase was mainly driven by price increases specific to certain industries–including the food industry, metallurgy, textile, woodwork, and leather and footwear industries–according to Morocco’s Statistics and Forecasts Office (HCP).
Food industry prices increased by 0.2%, while the Apparel sector rose by 0.9%, and Metallurgy and Textiles climbed by 0.3%. Woodworking/Manufacture of Wood and Cork Articles increased by 0.4%, while Leather and Footwear saw an increase of 0.1%.
HCP also revealed that automotive prices decreased by 0.3% and pricing for the manufacture of rubber and plastics fell by 0.1%.
Additionally, the producer price indices for the “Extractive Industries”–such as “Electricity Production and Distribution,” and “Water Production and Distribution”–remained unchanged relative to the same time period differential.
