Global leader in connectors and sensors TE Connectivity cut the ribbon on a new factory at its campus in the Tanger Med industrial port complexe in Tangier on Wednesday.
Aiming to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, the new facility, spanning 20,000 square meters, will offer a wide range of capabilities, including molding, over-molding, assembly, design engineering, and project management.
The site will play a central role in manufacturing essential components for key product lines that enable the connection, identification, and labeling of electrical components in industrial markets.
Amine Belhaj Soulami, Chief of Staff of the Minister of Industry and Trade, said during the inauguration ceremony that TE Connectivity’s presence in Morocco is a “success story.” The company’s fourth investment is “unequivocal proof of the group’s success in the Moroccan market and a strong sign of Morocco’s attractiveness as a destination.”
“TE Connectivity has been operating in Tangier for over ten years,” said Vish Ananthan, Senior Vice President and General Manager of TE Connectivity’s Industrial Business. “We are pleased with the availability of talent and the favorable investment climate established by the Moroccan government.”
Facility director Youssef Chentouf noted that this new site, managed by a 100% Moroccan team, will meet the growing demand for industrial solutions and strengthen supply chains in the region. He said the facility is expected to generate an additional 1,000 jobs by mid-2024.
TE Connectivity Morocco currently employs over 3,500 people in an industrial campus with four manufacturing plants located in TFZ, Tanger Automotive City (TAC)1, TAC2, as well as a distribution center at Tanger Med serving its logistics operations.
