Moroccan international football star Achraf Hakimi has been ranked 9th in the world’s “most expensive defenders” list for the 2023/2024 season, valued at 65 million euros, according to German-based footballing information website “Transfermarkt”.
Topping the chart in joint first place are Joško Gvardiol of Manchester City and Luis Diaz, also of Manchester City, with both players valued at an impressive 80 million euros each. William Saliba, who represents Arsenal, follows closely behind at 70 million euros.
Hakimi’s current season performance has been nothing short of outstanding, with a trio of goals and two important assists in eight games.
Transfermarket’s ranking methodology takes into account various factors, including a player’s age, performance statistics in both club and national team contexts, and contractual considerations.
Hakimi’s presence among the top 10 defenders in the world highlights his growing influence in the football landscape.
He made his debut with Real Madrid and was loaned afterwards to Borussia Dortmund. He transferred to Inter Milan before signing with Paris Saint-Germain in 2021.
