Two Moroccan military planes laden with urgent humanitarian aid for Palestinians touched down early this morning at El Arish airport in Egypt.
The planes were brimming with vital necessities, including food, medical supplies, and water, all destined for the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing.
Morocco’s Ambassador to Egypt and the permanent representative of Morocco to the Arab League Ahmed Tazi oversaw the receipt and transfer of these much-needed provisions at El Arish Airport, delivered rapidly on the orders of Morocco’s King Mohammed VI, who is President of the Al-Quds Committee.
Tazi said in a statement to Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) that the aid reflects King Mohammed VI’s “unwavering commitment” to the Palestinian cause, and that efforts were made to expedite the aid delivery “in strict compliance” with the King’s directives issued on Monday. The entire operation, he said, was conducted with “meticulous planning” in coordination with Egyptian authorities, taking into account the security conditions surrounding the Rafah crossing.
“These humanitarian supplies will be handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent, which will coordinate their entry into Palestinian territories with the relevant Palestinian authorities,” Tazi added.
The first trucks carrying fuel crossed the border into Gaza through the Rafah Crossing on Monday, accompanied by 17 trucks carrying humanitarian aid. Six fuel-loaded trucks are destined to power electric generators in hospitals.
A total of 17 trucks entered Gaza on Sunday, a day after the first convoy of 20 trucks carrying medical aid, food, and water was allowed through.
