Morocco and the African Development Bank (AfDB) signed three financing agreements in Rabat on Tuesday to provide over 2.9 billion MAD (MMDH) to Morocco for various programs to improve inclusive access to healthcare, support the expansion of social programs, and provide emergency assistance to people affected by last month’s earthquake.
The first agreement, worth 120 million euros (approximately 1.3 billion MAD), covers financing for the Program for Inclusive Access to Healthcare Infrastructure (PAAIIS). The second agreement, valued at 149 million euros (around 1.6 billion MAD), focuses on funding the Program for the Generalization of Social Coverage to enhance employability (PAGSC-II).
The third agreement facilitates emergency assistance for victims of the earthquake that struck Morocco on September 8, with a funding amount of 1 million dollars (approximately 10.35 million MAD).
Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the budget, Fouzi Lekjaa along with Achraf Tarsim, Representative of the African Development Bank’s Country Office in Rabat, Khalid Aït Taleb, Minister of Health and Social Protection, and Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, held a ceremony to mark the signing of the agreements.
