King Mohammed VI presided over a Council of Ministers meeting in his Rabat Palace on Thursday, and appointed a number of new ambassadors to foreign countries, according to a statement by Palace spokesperson Abdelhak El Mrini.
Two of the key appointments are Samira Sitail, named the King’s Ambassador to the French Republic, and Youssef Amrani appointed the King’s Ambassador to the United States of America.
Sitail is a journalist and an expert in audiovisual communication. She holds degrees in American language and civilization from the University of Paris Diderot and the Higher School of Audiovisual Production.
Over the last 32 years, Sitail has held high-level positions within the 2M Group and played a pivotal role in developing the editorial strategy of its television channel, radio station, and website.
At 70 years old, Amrani has had a remarkable diplomatic career, holding various diplomatic and ministerial positions, including Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
He has also served as Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and as Chief of Staff at the State Secretariat for the Union of the Arab Maghreb. He also served previously as the King’s Ambassador to Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and South Africa.
King Mohammed VI announced several additional ambassadorial appointments, strengthening Morocco’s diplomatic relations with various countries. He appointed Ahmed Tazi the new Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Fouad Akhrif to Jordan, Mohamed Ait Ouali to Egypt, and Abdelkader El Ansari to China.
