The Casablanca police seized 1,370 tons of cocaine on Thursday, thwarting an attempted international drug smuggling operation in Casablanca, according to a news release issued Friday.
The truck that was transporting frozen fish along with the massive amount of coke is believed to be from a Latin country and on its way to Spain.
The police apparently were notified by the owners of several imported fish distribution units in Casablanca after they discovered white powder suspected to be cocaine in a truck transporting their frozen fish.
The police have launched an investigation to identify the origin of the truck and its intended destinations, and is working closely with international security cooperation channels.
