A mild earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale struck several coastal cities in Morocco on Wednesday evening, according to reports from Anadolu Agency correspondents citing a source from the National Institute of Geophysics (ING).
Felt by residents in Taroudant (South of Marrakech) and Marrakech, the epicenter of the initial shock that occurred at 7:37 p.m. was Casablanca.
A second tremor was recorded at the same time further south, with its epicenter located in the Al Haouz region, the same area that had borne the brunt of the powerful 7 magnitude earthquake on September 8.
Although there were no recorded injuries or damage from yesterday’s quake, the September earthquake caused serious devastation to thousands of homes in central south Morocco and resulted in around 2,946 fatalities and thousands of injuries.
