Madrid’s Gourmets Fair (Salón Gourmets) chose Morocco to be the honored guest at the 37th edition of Europe’s largest festival dedicated to gastronomy and delicatessen goods, which will be held from April 22 to 25, 2024, organizers said on Monday.
The event will highlight Moroccan gastronomy while providing the opportunity to discover and enjoy local goods and traditional Moroccan meals, according to Grupo Gourmets, the event’s principal organizer.
Morocco Foodex (an autonomous export control and coordinating agency) will set up a 300 m2 pavilion to display the Kingdom’s ancestral culinary culture in various forms to the more than 100,000 trade visitors who travel from all over the world each year for this event.
The famed Madrid fair’s five pavilions will be transformed into an expanse of exotic flavors and aromas to showcase Morocco’s rich gastronomic culture, the result of historical influences from various countries in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
Salón Gourmets is recognized as Europe’s largest event solely dedicated to fine food items, as well as one of the world’s largest culinary displays.
The event is reserved for national and international hotel, restaurant, food and beverage distribution, catering, and specialty retail professionals. The most recent exhibition attracted 116,257 visitors and boasted 2,014 exhibitors, making it the “best ever.”
The event also showcased 55,000 items, 1,500 innovations, and 1,200 activities in 2023, with a projected business volume of 200 million euros.
