Imane Bahiji, the traditional Chaabi musical artist better known as Cheikha Tsunami, passed away at the age of 45 on Tuesday morning at the military hospital in Rabat.
The late singer was rushed to private clinic intensive care facility in Casablanca in late August, and the first diagnosis suspected was poisoning. It turned out to be an allegation of veracity, as it was proven that she had indeed been poisoned on multiple occasions, according to her artistic manager Oussama Hakim’s comments to local media.
The artist herself spoke of being poisoned three times, calling her latest experience “unprecedented.”
However, the singer’s sister Sara Bahiji informed the press that most likely, the official cause of death was cancer, which her family had been attempting to conceal.
Following the deterioration of her health condition, Cheikha Tsunami was transferred on September 27 to Rabat’s Military Hospital.
She fought for more than a fortnight but eventually succumbed to her illness, leaving her loved ones and admirers in pain.
Born in Marrakech in 1978, she relocated to Casablanca alone at the age of 15, where she met a famous singer and started performing at weddings and various other celebrations.
