Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita spoke on the phone with Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Minister and Secretary General of its Executive Committee Hussein Al-Sheikh on Sunday to discuss measures to address the escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas.
As Israel continued to gear up for its announced ground offensive into Gaza, the two diplomats agreed on the urgent need for coordinated measures to avert the ongoing crisis particularly with respect to safeguarding civilian lives, facilitating humanitarian aid, preventing more Palestinian displacement, and establishing a political framework in accordance with international law to address the underlying cause of the 75-year-old conflict.
Their overarching objective is to secure peace, security, and stability in the region. The exchange was part of Morocco’s ongoing engagement toward a political resolution to the Palestine problem, pursuant to the directives of King Mohammed VI.
