Tens of thousands of Moroccans poured into the streets of the capital Rabat for a peaceful march on Sunday, in support of Palestinians in Gaza whom are subjected to the Israeli retaliatory onslaught, after Hamas movement carried out its “Al Aqsa Flood” operation.
The demonstration, organized by the Moroccan Association to Support the Struggle of the Palestinian People, drew a diverse attendance, including civilians, Members of Parliament, politicians, and activists. The organizers have said that around 300,000 participants took part in the large protest.
Protesters, waving Palestinian flags, passionately voiced their condemnation of the violence targeting unarmed civilians in the Gaza Strip, and the silence of the international community. The Palestinian health ministry had reported that the death toll in Gaza had exceeded 2,300, mainly among women and children.
Morocco, which resumed ties with Israel in 2020 as part of the U.S.-brokered Abraham Accords, remains an advocate for a two-state solution and continues to emphasize the importance of peace and the protection of all civilians, regardless of their origin.
In various capital cities worldwide, protests broke out to condemn the Israeli attack on Gaza. In some Western countries, as the USA, Jewish protesters joined the pro-Palestinian demos, urging the Israeli government to halt the offensive and stop killing Palestinians in their name.
