The members of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) re-elected Morocco on Friday in Geneva to the Human Rights Council Advisory Committee for 2023-2026, announced Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Moroccan representative Nadia Amal Bernoussi was re-elected at the 54th session of the UNHRC, as her reinstatement crowns an important diplomatic campaign to promote the Moroccan candidacy.
This election demonstrates Morocco’s high level of credibility within the international community for the considerable efforts made in favor of the promotion, protection, and consolidation of human rights, both at the national and international levels, affirmed the ministry.
Bernoussi, a member of the Venice Commission and a member of the Human Rights Council Advisory Committee since 2020, is a preeminent figure in the field of human rights, recognized both nationally and internationally. She served as a member of the 2011 Constitutional Review Commission and continues to make a significant contribution to academic research in the field of human rights.
The Human Rights Council Advisory Committee is a subsidiary body of the Human Rights Council composed of 18 experts. Its mandate is to function as a think tank for the promotion and protection of all human rights.
