Morocco’s U23 Muay Thai team came in first place at the 2023 World Championship–held October 1-7 in Antalya, Turkey–after gathering 10 medals, including 4 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze, according to the Moroccan Federation of Kick-Boxing, Muay Thaï, Savate and related sports.
Kalthoum Akhlouf (48 kg) won four gold medals after defeating Kinkso Olaha (Austria) in the final with a score of 30 to 27, and Salma Jabour (54 kg) defeated Tanita Blingit (Thailand) with a score of 29 to 28.
Toulaoui Soumia (71 kg) also defeated Lingo Khan of Vietnam with a score of 29 to 28, while Khaoula Daakali (75 kg) defeated Tunisian Chaimaa Soudani in the final with a score of 30 to 27.
Amine Chtioui (51kg), Ayoub Attoudane (48kg), and Ali El Ayoubi (91kg) took home the three silver medals.
Mohamed Yassine Mahsoun (67 kg), Barhan Jaouaher (60 kg), and Yahya El Mersi (57 kg) rounded out the awards platform with three bronze.
Second place in the World Championship went to Thailand, with four gold and two silver medals, along with one bronze medal. Ukraine took third place with a total of three gold and silver each, along with one bronze.
