The Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights (DIDH) announced on Saturday morning that the Kingdom of Morocco successfully repatriated a young Moroccan girl–identified as (R.M)–who had been residing with her incarcerated mother in an Iraqi prison, according to a DIDH press release.
This humanitarian act enabled the young girl’s release from prison and return to Morocco, and was in line with what her family had been seeking. The fundamental task at hand–as stated by DIDH–has always been to provide the girl with the opportunity to grow up in a humane environment conducive to normal developmental growth.
Throughout her journey, the girl’s aunt (A.A) and a social worker accompanied her, ensuring her safety and comfort.
DIDH expressed profound gratitude to Iraqi authorities for their unflinching dedication in carrying out this humanitarian operation successfully.
Moroccan authorities have taken extensive measures to protect the young girl’s best interests, including psychological, social, and educational assistance. According to DIDH, they have shown dedication to ensuring her smooth assimilation into her new surroundings, with regard to both her family environment and to her educational milieu.
This humanitarian action highlights the importance of international cooperation and the commitment of Moroccan and Iraqi authorities to protecting and nurturing the well-being of the most vulnerable sector of society.
