Moroccan carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) decided to cancel its Casablanca-Tel Aviv flight, scheduled on Saturday at 11.20 p.m., due to the growing tension and outbreak of violence in the Gaza Strip.
Flight AT228, which seats 160 travelers, was set to be operated by a Boeing 737 and land in Ben-Gurion airport. Another flight from Marrakech to Tel Aviv, operated by El Al airlines, is so far maintained but might be subject to changes given the volatility of the situation.
The Israeli military has declared a “state of war alert” on Saturday, after Palestinian Islamist Group Hamas fired a barrage of 5,000 rockets and sent fighters into “Israeli territory.” Israeli media outlets have reported a death toll of 600.
Morocco has expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in the Gaza Strip, denouncing attacks against civilians from both sides.
