The National Police (DGSN) dispatched mobile units to help earthquake victims in Ait Tamlil commune, Azilal province (center of Morocco), with the issuance of new identity cards, as per a video released by the DGSN.
The on-site police caravan is meant to collect data and personal information from the victims who lost their houses in the violent earthquake that hit central Morocco recently. Many families have lost their identifications and personal effects under the rubble and are finding difficulties to benefit from some public services with no IDs.
The deployed teams include policemen in charge with photography, fingerprints and other paperwork that might require long bureaucratic procedures and frequent travels to the city.
The National Police had already deployed similar units to facilitate registration and the renewal of electronic national identity cards in villages surrounding the cities of Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Beni Mellal, and Chichaoua.
