Leader of Gabonese Transition Gen. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema received Morocco’s Ambassador in Libreville Abdallah Sbihi on Friday, to discuss bilateral cooperation and the shared commitment to a transparent and respectful partnership.
Gen. Oligui Nguema said on X (formerly Twitter) that the talks touched on the transition process and Morocco’s contribution in it. He also posted a picture of him shaking hands with Sbihi while wearing fatigues bearing Morocco’s slogan “God, the Homeland, the King,” with the untruncated map of Morocco on the wall.
The ambassador pledged Morocco’s support, and that of other diplomatic missions, to strengthening South-South cooperation, he added.
Oligui Nguema had his military training at the Meknes military academy before returning to Gabon to enroll at the commando training center. He then quickly moved up the ladder of the Gabonese Republic Guard.
The General served as military attaché at Gabon’s embassy in Morocco and then in Senegal. He was recalled to Gabon after president Ali Bongo suffered a stroke.
Following the coup that took place in Gabon late August, the Kingdom of Morocco had stated that it “trusts the wisdom of the Gabonese country, its driving forces, and national institutions to move forward towards a perspective that will enable it to act in the supreme interests of the country.”
