Morocco expressed its wholehearted backing for the fraternal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s desire to host the final stages of the 2034 FIFA World Cup, announced the Foreign Ministry in a press release on Thursday.
This backing arises from the profound and strong relationships that King Mohammed VI has with his brothers, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Chairman of the Council of Ministers, stated the source.
Morocco, under the guidance of its monarch, exhibits complete confidence in Saudi Arabia’s ability to organize this monumental sporting event, considering the country’s overall development and well-renowned structural capacities, concluded the statement.
Along the same lines, the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced its unconditional support for the legitimacy of KSA’s bid to host the 2034 World Cup finals, said Fouzi Lekjaa, Chairman of the “2030 World Cup Committee” and President of the Moroccan Football Federation, in a press release on Thursday.
Lekjaa praised KSA’s organizational and sporting capabilities, along with its infrastructure, tourist facilities and the overall passion of the Saudi people for football.
On Wednesday, the International Football Association (FIFA) Executive Committee approved the Morocco-Spain-Portugal joint bid as the sole candidate to host the 2030 World Cup.
