Morocco’s Government Council approved the draft decree n°2.23.361 for the creation of “Morocco’s Youth Award” on Thursday–proposed by Minister of Culture Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid–stated Government Spokesperson Mustapha Baitas in a weekly briefing.
This draft decree aims to create a nationwide creative competition and establish an annual prize which rewards humanitarian efforts by the Kingdom’s younger generation. The award will be open to individuals who excel in scientific research, technical innovation, artistic and cultural creativity, volunteer activity, and entrepreneurship.
All categories of youth will be eligible to receive the prize, following in the footsteps of the ‘’Civil Society Award’’ and the ‘’Morocco Book Prize.’’
The prize’s goal is to stimulate innovative and creative projects by young Moroccans and foreigners of the same age group who are lawfully residing in Morocco, by encouraging them to express themselves and develop their abilities.
This draft decree was drawn up with the vital role of youth in the Kingdom’s development goals in mind–as stated in the Constitution–namely in Articles 26 and 33, and reaffirmed in different Royal Speeches.
