Police services in Dakhla foiled an illegal immigration operation and arrested 234 Senegalese immigrants–including three women, two minors, and a corpse–near the coast of Roc Chico fishing village, 200 km from Dakhla on Wednesday.
The attempted migrants left Dakar and Diogo on Sept 25 and 27 respectively, with the hope of reaching the Canary Islands.
Those embarking on the ill-fated voyage did receive precautionary medical screenings before being handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie.
Subsequently they were transferred to the nearest national port for standard administrative procedures.
The same source added that the corpse was handed over to the civil protection bureau for immediate transfer to the morgue located at the Hassan II Hospital in Dakhla.
