Gad Elmaleh’s “Show Solidarité Maroc” (Morocco Solidarity Show) took place at Le Dôme de Paris on Oct. 2 and enabled Moroccan earthquake relief fundraising efforts to gather nearly a half million MAD (435,000 euros). The sum will be earmarked for the Special Fund No. 126.
Elmaleh expressed his support directly in a social media post a few days after the earthquake shook the Kingdom, saying, “The Moroccan government launched Fund 126 to provide emergency aid to victims of the country’s tragedy. All revenues will be donated to this fund. All United.”
Several other artists participated in Elmaleh’s production, including Booder, Redouane Bougheraba, and Roman Frayssinet as comedians. Rappers El Grande Toto and DJ Abdel were at the stage as well.
Approximately 4,500 people witnessed the event, and those in attendance indirectly contributed to financing the Fund 126, posted Elmaleh in an Instagram story. He went on to thank those who were present along with those who contributed from afar.
Tickets for this one-time show range from 75 to 300 euros. All participants–even the technical and ticketing employees–were volunteers.
Moroccan authorities established Special Fund No. 126 to coordinate emergency relief measures in the wake of the earthquake.
