The Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Israel signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Marrakech on Thursday to establish a new aquaponics-focused agricultural technology and research center.
Signed by Mohammed Sadiki, Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, and his Israeli counterpart, Avraham Moshe Dichter, the MoU aims to improve knowledge and experience sharing in agriculture, wheat farming, and water.
Dichter told the press that this is a “significant step forward” for both countries that is expected to achieve “exceptional outcomes in terms of food security within a few years.”
Sadiki and Dichter met on the sidelines of the 2nd African Conference on Health Risk Reduction, which runs through today, as part of an effort to expand bilateral connections. Their discussions focussed on opportunities to strengthen collaboration in the agricultural and fisheries industries.
