The government decided on Thursday to deduct three working days of pay from the salaries of high-ranking civil servants and employees of state and local governments, as well as employees of public establishments classified at scale 9 and above or their equivalents, according to a statement issued by the government spokesman following yesterday’s Government Council meeting.
This civil servant contribution to the national solidarity effort to address the consequences of last Friday’s earthquake will be stretched over three months. One working day’s pay will be deducted from each month of September, October, and November, and withheld from the employee’s net salary.
The government also decided that ministers, delegate ministers, the two high commissioners, the delegate general, and the interministerial delegate will contribute up to one month’s pay, taken from their net wages.
This measure, taken pursuant to article 40 of the Constitution, is part of Morocco’s national solidarity drive.
