All routes leading to affected regions in the Atlas mountains are now open after having been blocked for six days due to landslides and other effects of last Friday’s earthquake, Morocco’s Ministry of Logistics tweeted on Thursday.
The Ministry said that all roads between Ighil and Ouargui on Regional Route 2036 have been reopened to regular traffic. The Ministry’s intervention teams opened a series of unclassified and minor roads to access isolated villages.
Significant human and logistical resources have been deployed this week to the Al-Haouz region to open the various roadways that have been closed by landslides in this rugged mountainous region, which has significantly hindered access to supplies and rescue and support teams to areas affected by the earthquake, particularly the Ighil area.
