Five Palestinians were killed on the Israel-Gaza border on Wednesday when an explosive device that appeared to have been detonated accidentally went off, according to Palestinian officials, reported Reuters.
Protests along the border have increased after months of relative calm, and dozens of Gazawi were demonstrating at the border in solidarity with fellow citizens imprisoned in Israel.
The explosion was apparently triggered by a device that some of the demonstrators allegedly planned to deploy during the event.
The Israeli military claimed that protestors intended to throw the explosive device across the border at its soldiers.
