Aftershocks continued to strike Al Haouz and its environs on Thursday morning adding to the fear that has gripped the region in recent days. At 6:35am, a 4.8 magnitude tremor struck Ighil, the epicenter of the first earthquake, and the shock waves were felt as far Taroudant and Marrakech.
On Tuesday morning at 10:39am, a minor tremor with a magnitude of 4.0 had rattled Talat N’Yaaqoub, a rural commune situated within the Al Haouz province near Marrakech.
No casualties have been reported from these light tremors, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation and providing support to affected communities.
The official death toll of the massive 7-magnitude earthquake stands at 2,946 (2944 of them were buried), with 5,674 injured, according to the latest update by the Interior Ministry on Wednesday.
