This week, Moroccan national institutions began to commit funds to help with earthquake relief, especially contributing to Bank al-Maghrib’s Special Fund No. 126 created for the victims affected by the earthquake that struck Morocco on Friday.
The Moroccan Prison Administration (DGAPR), through its Social Solidarity Association, contributed three million MAD on behalf of all its employees. The administration said in a statement that all officials and employees were encouraged to voluntarily participate in various solidarity initiatives such as blood donation campaigns and material contributions.
DGAPR extended its condolences to the disaster-stricken populations, affirming its full readiness to mobilize all available resources to help those affected by the earthquake in Morocco.
Additionally, all members of the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament donated a one-month’s salary to the special earthquake relief fund, offering their condolences to the bereaved families.
The National Company of Radio and Television (SNRT) also contributed a fund amounting to 40 million MAD to Special Fund No. 126. The Moroccan Customs and Excise Administration (ADII) also jointly contributed 20 million MAD to the special fund.
The National Highway Company of Morocco (ADM) said that the highway payments of humanitarian aid convoys directed to areas affected by the earthquake will be transferred to the State created fund, in addition to its own financial contribution.
