As of Monday, more than 300 tons of medications and medical supplies had been sent to the areas affected by the Al Haouz Earthquake, more than enough to treat the injured, following the emergency strategic plan, according to Director of Medicines and Pharmacy at the Ministry of Health, Aziz Mrabti.
In a statement to MAP, Mrabti said that this inventory of necessary medications and healthcare supplies is sufficient to handle emergency and crisis circumstances.
The Ministry of Health sent more than 200 tons of medications and medical equipment to all hospitals and health institutions in the impacted districts in the first hours following the earthquake. He continued by saying that a new shipment of more than 100 tons had since been dispatched to health facilities in the impacted areas to supplement their supply.
He added that on Wednesday further amounts of medications and medical supplies were planned for shipment to augment the supply at neighborhood hospitals and those working to care for the injured.
He said the shipments contained resuscitation and anesthetic medications, painkillers, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial medications, oxygen respirators, and medical devices used in surgery.
Mrabti stressed that all facilities receiving the affected patients would be involved in the distribution of medicines and mmedical equipment, noting that the Health Department directly supervises the additional quantities.
