The Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) will donate all proceeds from Tuesday’s upcoming friendly match between Morocco’s national team and Burkina Faso to Bank al-Maghrib’s Special Fund 126, the federation announced in a press release on Monday.
Special Fund No. 126 is part of Morocco’s massive national effort to remedy the damage from the 7.0-magnitude earthquake, which is estimated to have affected over 300,000 people and has rendered thousands homeless.
In a remarkable display of solidarity and support for the country, FRMF’s decision to donate the match’s ticket revenues to Special Fund 126 will help the most vulnerable people.
The federation had earlier announced the postponement of the Morocco-Liberia game, initially planned for Saturday in Agadir.
The friendly match between Morocco’s U23 team and Brazil, scheduled for Monday night in Fez, was also canceled.
