Emir of Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani dispatched the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group to Morocco, following a catastrophic 7-magnitude earthquake that shook the country Friday night, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported on Sunday.
The Group, under the Permanent Committee for Rescue, Relief and Humanitarian Aid in disaster-stricken areas of brotherly and friendly countries, will assist with relief efforts and search and rescue operations.
With specialized vehicles and equipment, the team will collaborate with the Moroccan authorities onsite and provide humanitarian aid to the affected populations.
The latest quake death toll stands at 2,012. The number of the wounded is 2,059, including 1,404 gravely.
Morocco declared on Saturday three days of official mourning with flags at half-mast.
