Highly skilled Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has officially signed a season-long loan deal with Manchester United (Man Utd or MAN), extending his stay at the club until June 2024. Amrabat, who played a key role in Morocco’s extraordinary rise in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, couldn’t hide his delight in wearing the prestigious Man Utd jersey, according to official sources.
“It is a huge honor to become a Manchester United player,” Amrabat said in an Instagram post published by Manchester United. “I’ve had to be patient for this moment, but I’m someone who always listens to my heart and now I am representing the club of my dreams. . .. I am a passionate player; I want to bring that energy to the squad, and I will put everything into every action I take for the team.”
Coach Erik ten Hag described in a press conference on Monday what Amrabat, with whom he previously worked at Utrecht, can offer to MUN. “He is very dynamic, he’s very good in the duels. So, we are pleased that we have him at United and I think he will contribute to our high targets we set.”
Man Utd ‘s Football Director, John Murtough, praised Amrabat’s energetic attitude to the game, a trait that fits the club’s target for success in the next season. During his time with the Reds, this energetic midfielder will gladly wear the number four jersey.
Amrabat’s path to Man Utd is somewhat circuitous. He was born in Huizen, a village in the Netherlands, to parents of Moroccan descent, and comes from a footballing family. His brother Nordin is also a professional footballer. Sofyan’s career has brought him to clubs across Europe, where he has proven his talent and flexibility.
The 27-year-old is about to begin a new chapter of his footballing life in Manchester at the top of the A list of called-up players who are set to play in the UEFA Champions League.
