The 19th edition of the Maroc Telecom “Festival des Plages” (The Festival of Beaches), which concluded on August 21, saw a record-high attendance of 10 million festival-goers from all over Morocco.
Throughout the summer, 112 concerts featuring both Moroccan and foreign artists took place in the beaches of M’diq, El Hoceima, Tangier, Martil, Saïdia, and Nador, said the organizers in a press release.
The concerts that took place during Throne Day, Oued Eddahab Day, and Youth Day were the highlight of this year’s festival, added the statement.
The event featured over 200 artists, including Moroccan and international stars such as Najat Atabou, Saida Charaf, Asmaa Lamnawar, Stati, Said Senhaji, L’Artiste, H-Kayn, Fnaïre, Reda Taliani, Muslim, Dizzy Dross, Dj Hamida, Douzi, Zakaria Ghafouli, Mehdi Mozzayine, Aminux, Tagne, Rym, Mocci, Kouz1, Said Mosker, Karima Gouit, Issam Kamal, Mouss Mahir, Hatim Idar, Ibtissam Tisskat, and more.
The festival organizers also noted that “the spectators had the privilege of enjoying high-level performances by big names of international renown, from Moroccan music, but also local groups from each host city, thus consolidating the reputation of the festival as a showcase of the country’s musical wealth.”
Since its inception in 2002, the Festival des Plage has been committed to being an event that is accessible to all, and aims to promote social inclusion and Moroccan culture in general, and music culture specifically.
